A Small Start
A garage | Palo Alto, CA
Have a good idea for that new hi-tech killer app? In Silicon Valley a garage is all you need to start up your company. Garages next to modest homes in Silicon Valley are home to the beginnings for some of today’s tech giants like HP, Apple and Google. This track record inspires the dreams of many aspiring entrepreneurs today. After all, you are as close as your home’s garage to start up your new life.

HP, the oldest of all, was founded in a garage in Palo Alto. This garage was categorized as a historical site and regarded as the Birthplace of Silicon Valley. In 2000, HP purchased the property to rehabilitate it as a gesture of pride and responsibility to its heritage. Today, the garage is not only a humble display of a giant’s birthplace, but also a storyteller of the Silicon Valley culture.

If you don’t notice the sign in front of the house, it looks like any home in Palo Alto. But if you take closer look, you will see a note that makes the house (and its garage) stand far out from its neighbors.
